you missed the point of the film or at least the point of the character.

3B is all about how no one is 100% good or 100% evil. We’re gray, we’re inbetween. We make bad decisions/actions one day and then try to make it up some other way. Just because someone is a ‘bad’ person doesn’t mean they’re incapable of good or attempting to go good or vice versa. That’s the point of Dixon.

Dixon is a racist, stupid man-child who lives with his mom and love beating people because ‘he’s a cop, he can beat people up’. But at the end of the day, he wants to be a good cop. He wants to be the hero (which could stem from his love of comics) so even though he does some incredibly wrong, horrible actions in the film, he also still tries to do good (this also applies to Mildred’s entire plot but other people talked about it).

Martin McDonagh is a playwright and this is a very theatrical topic, exploring the human nature. It’s not about forgiving a racist (that’s too specific, but it really is more broad), it’s about people and how they react to grief (in a small town community).

I suggest you take some time away from the film and then revisit it. If you still feel the same way, I respect that. But see it in a year or two, let us know what you think
